Class 9 English – Opinion Matters : ৯ম শ্রেণির শিক্ষার্থীবৃন্দ, আসসালামু আলাইকুম। কেমন আছো সবাই? কেমন চলছে তোমাদের পড়াশুনা? নিশ্চয়ই খুব ভালো?

আচ্ছা, তোমরা কি লক্ষ্য করেছো, তোমাদের ইংরেজি পাঠ্যবইয়ের experience বা অধ্যায়ের সংখ্যা ১২টি? এই ১২টি experience-এর ১মটি হচ্ছে Opinion Matters.

এখানে ’Opinion’ শব্দটি noun হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে, যার অর্থ ’মতামত’। আর ‘Matters’ শব্দটি verb হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে, যার অর্থ ‘গুরুত্বপূর্ণ’। অর্থাৎ, ‘Opinion Matters’-এর বাংলা অর্থ হচ্ছে, ‘মতামত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ’।

Opinion Matters অধ্যায়ের বিষয়বস্তু

এই অধ্যায়ে আমরা Fact ও Opinion-এর মধ্যে পার্থক্য করা শিখবো। নিচে Fact ও Opinion সম্পর্কে কিছু সাধারণ ধারণা দেয়া হলো:

Fact বলতে কি বোঝায়?
Fact হচ্ছে সেই সব statement যা সব সময় সত্য। বই পড়ে বা ইন্টারনেট ঘেঁটে বা অনুসন্ধান চালিয়ে Fact প্রমাণ করা যায়। যেমন: “Mango is a Fruit” [🥭]
উপরের বাক্যটি একটি Fact. কেননা, এই statement সব সময় সত্য। আমরা সবাই জানি, আম একটি ফল।

Opinion বলতে কি বোঝায়?
Opinion হচ্ছে তোমার ধারণা বা অনুভূতি। Opinion প্রমাণ করা যায় না। একেক জনের Opinion একেক রকম হতে পারে। যেমন: “Mango is the king of all fruits” [🥭]
তোমার মনে হতে পারে, আম হলো ফলের রাজা। কারণ, তোমার সবচেয়ে পছন্দের ফল হচ্ছে আম। আবার অনেকের কাছে মনে হতে পারে- লিচু হলো ফলের রাজা। কেননা, তার কাছে লিচু সবচেয়ে মজার ফল। [🍒]
